The Laurel with moustaches

Finally my last entry to the Laurel contest. It's for the self designed category, it took about 2 days to paint, wash and dry and about a day to sew and I am realy proud of it.

So enough talk, let's bring the pictures.

Colatte Laurel dress (sarafan)

Well, it time to reveal the dress with the detail on the neckline that I showed you in last week's sneak preview.

It's an entry in the Laurel contest for the fall category because it's a thicker fabric and it's suited for fall and for spring to be worn over a shirt or something with longer sleeves.

I made little modifications on the pattern for this dress and it was ready in 2 days. Really easy to sew pattern once you don't do so many alterations.

Colette Laurel blouse

I am proud to say that I've finished all my entries for the Laurel contest and I now have a lot more time for little things like blogging or for myself.

So today I'm going to show you the blouse that I made for the contest. It took me a lot more time that I have planned but it was worth it.

Sneak preview

Wow, it's been about 2 weeks since my last post.....but I've been busy sewing for the Laurel contest. Basically all my days in the past 2 weeks were scheduled like this: wake up, go to work, get home from work, eat, sew, sew, sew, sleep. It was like hitting the repeat button.

Hubby said that wherever I went I was leaving small threads behind me....and it didn't surprised me at all because the whole house was filled with little threads, and my hair, and my clothes...there were threads everywhere, hihi.

But I managed to finish the blouse and a dress and all that remains now is for me to get my paycheck and go buy some fabric and paint so I can get started with the last dress.

Until I can get some pictures taken for the blouse and dress to post them I'm letting you with a sneak preview of the detail on the dress.

Love and kisses,

Laurel blouse - progress

So...here I was, all ready to start sewing my blouse, thinking about how to do the french seams, and then...hubby fell asleep...hmmmm....I couldn't just take the sewing machine and make a lot of noise...what a bummer...

And I said to my self: "what to do in complete silence so I won't wake hubby up???". And it hit me: bias binding!!! So I took my fabric out, found the tutorial on how to do continuous bias binding and got to work on it.

Progress and inspiration

So, here I am, blogging about my inspiration and progress on Colette's sewing contest. As I mentioned before in my post there are 5 main categories and I want to enter them all.

And with 3 weeks to go and 3 garments to make I really have to rush things a bit. Hubby and I were down with a nasty cold for more than a week and that set me back some good quality sewing time. But we're better now and let the sewing begin!!

Easter

Hello there!!! It's been a while since my last post, but I've been busy with a nasty cold, again, and I couldn't do anything for a week, and I've been working on my versions of Colette's Laurel pattern.

I know that for some of you Easter has last week, I think, but for me Easter is a month from now and I've found a couple of interesting decor on Pinterest and I'm going to share it with you.

First a cute little bunny made from paper rolls. I didn't made one yet but I will do it soon.

how cute is it....and here is the tutorial I found
